Atherton Waster Water Treatment Plant and Conveyance System Improvements
This project consists of substantial treatment and associated structure improvements to the Atherton Wastewater Treatment Plant. This includes a new belt filter press, modified conveyor system, UV disinfection building, effluent pump station, associated junction structures, control building, odor control building, solids disposal building, incineration building, ash holding lagoons and all associated sitework infrastructure to support the new improvements. Major equipment and material handling system upgrades include a new sludge incinerator, scrubber, process heat exchangers, sand feed conveyance, sludge transfer and ash disposal systems. The plant services an area of nearly 278 square miles throughout Kansas City and its surrounding suburbs, with a 52 MGD effluent flow that must be maintained throughout the entire upgrade.
