The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Lab – Intelligent Systems Center Renovation

The Applied Physics Lab (APL) at The Johns Hopkins University established the Intelligent Systems Center to focus on robotic systems, machine learning and applied neuroscience. This project, located in Laurel, Maryland, involved the transformation of a basic, single-story office building into a high-tech, highly-functioning, advanced robotics laboratory. Work included the renovation of 30,000 SF into research and work space for APL’s Research and Exploratory Development Department (REDD), and includes elements of neurosciences, information sciences/machine vision, robotics and autonomous systems. The interior of the building is an open concept with research laboratories, software development areas, fabrication areas and collaborative work spaces.
