University of Kansas Summerfield Hall Renovation

The Summerfield Hall project was a renovation of a 100,000 SF academic building to repurpose the program for the University of Kansas Department of Film and Media Studies. The updated facility includes a new two-story soundstage with catwalks for lighting and observing, an exterior door large enough to allow vehicles onto the stage, as well as an adjacent greenroom where students can prepare for their performances. There is also a new recording studio, computer lab, department offices, a media library and production classrooms to practice production tasks before moving to the soundstage. Construction work also included demolition of existing structural components and a building-wide replacement of the HVAC and fire alarm systems.
