Kaiser Permanente - Orange County Irvine Medical Center
Construction services for a 430,000 SF, 150-bed hospital with 100,000 SF of shelled space. Included a three-story diagnostic and treatment (D&T) wing with a full basement and twin six-story nursing towers. The hospital connected to a new 130,000 SF, six-story hospital support building, which Whiting-Turner also constructed. Innovative structural systems included stone columns, matt foundation and unbonded brace frame construction. Exterior skin systems incorporated plaster systems, punched windows with frit glass, curtainwall and metal panels.
