University of Central Florida Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences
This project consisted of the construction of an approximate 196,000 GSF biomedical research sciences building consisting of:
• 21,000 SF of vivarium.
• 2,400 SF of BSL-3 laboratory.
• 58,000 SF of research lab.
• 51,000 SF of specialty support lab.
• 33,000 SF of research lab offices and administrative space.
The balance of spaces is service and MEP areas. The lab building is a five-story, cast-in-place structure with a steel-framed penthouse at level six. The vivarium building is a load-bearing masonry wall with CIP tie columns and tie beams with a concrete-poured metal roof deck. This project received LEED® Silver certification and the Building of America award.
