This project consisted of two separate building renovations and the construction of a new connecting building. The 15,500 GSF six-story building, Baldwin House, was built in 1881. The exterior storefront and façade was restored to reflect historically accurate features. The interior renovation included intricate restoration work of scagliola and plaster crown moulding and corbels. The second building renovation was to the 23,500 GSF six-story Routzahn’s building. The exterior brick façade was repointed and alley windows were replaced to match historical features. Also included in this work was the construction of a new connecting five-story building with a five-story open-air atrium as the focal point. This project was awarded the Scagliola Restoration & Replication Award by the Building Congress & Exchange of Baltimore.
