Whiting-Turner
Maryland Historical Society
This project included the construction of the Bar and Link buildings, providing a connection from the existing Thomas and Hugg building to the existing Heritage Gallery building. It also expanded the Historical Society’s storage, gallery, and exhibition spaces by 40,000 SF. The new Bar building is a four-story zinc-paneled steel-framed structure with three levels of exhibition space and one level of storage. The Link building is a two-story steel-framed structure featuring a large brick wall with glass curtainwall skin. The project included modifications to the existing Thomas and Hugg building in the form of renovations to areas and lobbies near the tie-in of the new structure. It also included an exhibit package upgrade to the Heritage Gallery, which provided a new exhibit area and included new walls and finishes.
