Northpark Center
This project is the 2,000,000 SF renovation and expansion of an existing shopping center that was one of the first commercial centers in the U.S. to create space for displaying fine art. The new expansion was an extension of the existing award-winning architecture and included a 1.4-acre sculpture garden park, 110 new stores, two new parking garages, an eight-tenant NorthPark café and food court, and a 15-screen theater on the third level of the center overlooking the sculpture garden. Whiting-Turner also erected the three-story Mark Di Suvero sculpture, Ad Astra, in one of the court areas.
