The Philips Collection Museum

The 32,000 SF Education Center is an addition to Phillips Collection museum; it involved the demolition of several four-story townhouses, and the excavation to two stories below grade while retaining townhouse facades. The new center is 75% below grade and includes a 180-seat auditorium. The project also included a substantial renovation of the Goh Gallery building, featuring new mechanical systems, building finishes, and a new entrance to the museum. Preconstruction and construction phases included extensive neighborhood-relations efforts.
