St. Michaels
Educational Complex

The St. Michaels Educational Complex project was a 162,000 SF renovation of an elementary, middle and high school in St. Michaels, Maryland. This renovation included a new geothermal well system to update the HVAC system, a new auditorium, new cafeterias for both the high school and the elementary school, and terrazzo flooring throughout the corridors. All classrooms were renovated to include new flooring, ceiling, windows, doors and cabinetry. Whiting-Turner self-performed various aspects of the work including the demolition, carpentry, door and hardware installation, and the temporary partition installation.

Although this was a four phase project, Whiting-Turner worked closely with the owner to revise the phasing plan in order to reduce the number of temporary classrooms and the duration of their use. This also shortened the overall schedule by five months.
