John & Frances Angelos
Law Center
The new 190,000 SF John and Frances Angelos Law Center at the University of Baltimore will be one of the most sustainable buildings in Baltimore. Striving for a LEED® Platinum rating, the project includes a complex energy model which relies on radiant heating, geothermal energy, solar power, and an intricate facade featuring automatic window operators and exterior blinds.
The Center will include spaces for offices, classrooms, a law clinic, a library, moot courtrooms, and a central atrium which brings natural daylight to the interior spaces. The facade is composed of three systems, each with its own unique aesthetic and performance qualities. Exposed concrete and extensive glass wall partitions will give the building a sense of openness and transparency which will foster the interaction of students, faculty, and staff. The building is being designed by Behnisch Architekten in conjunction with local architect Ayers/Saint/Gross.
The Center is scheduled to open for the Spring 2013 semester.
