The new construction of an approximately 196,000 GSF biomedical research sciences building consists of 21,000 SF of vivarium, 2,400 SF of BSL-3 laboratory, 58,000 SF of research lab, 51,000 SF of specialty support lab, 33,000 SF of research lab offices and administration space with the balance of space being service and MEP areas. The lab building is a five-story cast-in-place structure with a steel-framed penthouse at Level 6. The single-story vivarium building and the connector space between the lab and vivarium buildings are steel-framed structures. The skin of the lab building is block and brick on Level 1 with precast on Levels 2 through 5.
