Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building
The Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Building is a cutting edge 200,000 SF research and teaching facility. The Research Wing will include a clean room, microscopy suite, synthesis lab, characterization suite and office/administration space. These spaces will be occupied by several new institutes at the University of Delaware including the Energy and the Environment Institutes. This building will be a cast-in-place concrete structure set on a micropile foundation for vibration. The skin of the building will be a combination of curtainwall, metal panels, monk bond brick, slate set in precast panels and storefront. The building has been designed to meet LEED® Silver certification and includes items such as green roofs, solar film on roofing, heat recovery from the exhaust, and man made wetlands for storm water treatment.
