Whiting-Turner has constructed two buildings and is currently constructing a third in the research park at the University of Maryland, Baltimore.
Building One is a six-story structure consisting of approximately 120,000 SF of research space. This project is part of the USGBC LEED® Core & Shell pilot program and achieved a LEED silver rating.
Building Two consists of a 245,000 SF, six-story core and shell building to accommodate laboratory/research tenants.
Whiting-Turner is currently working with the development team of Wexford Science + Technology, and the University of Maryland at Baltimore, to construct a new speculative research facility (core and shell) to be known as UMB BioPark Building Three. The six-level-plus, basement building is currently planned to include approximately 200,000 SF, with a goal to meet LEED Silver certification. Sufficient building infrastructure and systems will be provided to support development of the building for office and research laboratories.
