The American Airlines Hangar 9 Renovation consisted of a complete refurbishment of a 50-year-old hangar at Boston’s Logan International Airport. The hangar covers over 73,000 SF, can accommodate three aircrafts and features a ground service equipment facility with four bays.
The facility also includes:
- Aircraft maintenance and parts rooms
- Larger aircraft doors
- Automotive mechanic's shop
- Freight lift and passenger elevator
- New rooftop units
- Offices and a break room
- Fully equipped training room
The facility was built to Massachusetts Port Authority Sustainable Design Standards and Guidelines. It was constructed using recycled, energy-efficient and regionally produced materials. In addition, the hangar is fully insulated and incorporates energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, as well as motion-activated lighting.
