DCA Hangar 3 and 4 and Air Cargo 106 Renovation

About

THIS PROJECT

This 87,600 SF renovation at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport consisted of the relocation of existing operations in Hangars 11 and 12 to Hangars 3 and 4 and Air Cargo 106. These hangars were built in the 1940s, and this project was their first major renovation. The renovation included:

  • Vehicle maintenance areas
  • MEP systems
  • Communication and security upgrades
  • Training spaces
  • Offices and break rooms
  • Storage rooms
  • Locker rooms

The project also involved a high expansion foam fire suppression system in Hangar 4. This system required seven large foam generators mounted in the ceiling that fill the hangar’s bay with foam up to 15 feet in depth within five minutes. This also required a full system test where we released the foam in the hangar.
