FLL Terminal 4 Checked Baggage Inspection System

About

THIS PROJECT

This is a 20,000 SF design-build baggage handling system project and includes renovations to house the new checked baggage inspection system and checked baggage resolution area at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport. The screening system has four explosive detection systems and is capable of screening 1,260 bags per hour. The new air-conditioned facility was also constructed to house the baggage conveyors and screening equipment to screen bags per the TSA’s Planning Guidelines and Design Standards (PGDS) Version 6.0 standards.

The construction was adjacent to the existing TSA screening area and other construction projects in an operational terminal/ramp. This project was completed in phases. The existing screening areas were temporarily reconfigured to ensure operations were maintained throughout construction.
