About

THIS PROJECT

This project was an 80,000 SF, high-end interior renovation to accommodate Mimecast’s employees as the company continues to expand in the region. The office features an open-concept layout where existing post-tensioned beams and girders are exposed and painted, a dining area/cafeteria called a “Shebeen” to mimic South African illicit pubs, conference rooms and work pods. The materials utilized within the space were highly unique and specialized. Milled Wyoming Snow fence and charred cypress wood was utilized as wall paneling, fumed oak edge grain flooring, Farmhouse Cabbiavoli Oak flooring, various ceramic, porcelain tile and wall coverings from Italy. The space was designed and built to house 450 employees.

While the renovation was in progress, Whiting-Turner was also completing upgrades to the base building, which included extensive structural work for a new elevator and duct work shaft, all new windows and other interior elements to support Mimecast. The base building features a fitness center and a 1,600 SF rooftop deck. The facility also includes sustainable elements such as a rooftop solar photovoltaic system, which reduces energy use by 21% compared to a typical building.
