THIS PROJECT

This Town of East Hartford Fire House 5 project consisted of a single-story, 16,000 SF fire station with a wood truss roof and a brick exterior with artisan lap siding. The facility replaces a station originally built in the 1930s and includes:

  • Two double-deep bays for the engine and rescue company
  • Sleeping quarters
  • Kitchen and dining facility
  • Training room
  • Fitness area
  • Locker and shower facilities

Sustainable features include:

  • 16 geothermal wells
  • Solar panels
  • Rain gardens
  • Radient slab in the maintenance bay

This project achieved LEED® Gold certification and is the first LEED Gold fire station in Connecticut.
