Cherokee Lane Elementary School

About

THIS PROJECT

The Cherokee Lane Elementary School in Hyattsville, Maryland replaced the original school building and educates students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The school features:

  • Music room
  • Art room
  • Media center
  • Kitchen
  • Cafeteria
  • Gymnasium
  • Two-story classroom wing
  • Reception and administrative areas
  • Security vestibule
  • Softball field
  • Multipurpose field

The gymnasium and cafeteria were built utilizing conventional construction techniques, while the academic building was prefabricated in a manufacturing facility and installed at the jobsite. This approach helped the project team meet their schedule and minimized disruption to the operational middle school which was adjacent to the site of the new elementary school.
