CANstruction | Denver, Colorado

Team members from our Denver, Colorado office competed in their first CANstruction competition against other contractors and designers across the city. CANstruction is an international hunger relief charity that collects millions of pounds of food for local food banks.

In preparation for the event, our team reached out to local subcontractors and vendors to collect donations to purchase cans and materials for the structure. Each team was allowed 12 hours to build on competition day. After five hours, the Whiting-Turner team’s structure was built and included over 2,200 cans of food.

All cans from the competition were donated to “We Don’t Waste,” a local organization that works to reduce hunger and food waste in Denver by recovering quality, unused food. The food is then delivered to community partners, such as food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters, schools and daycare programs.
