Canton Crossing Parking Garage

About

THIS PROJECT

The Canton Crossing Parking Garage is a seven-level, 400,000 SF, precast parking deck that accommodates 1,300 vehicles. The garage has a brick exterior and includes two curtainwall enclosed stair towers, a parking access control system and two elevators. Additional features include LED lights tied into photo cells for daylight harvesting, low emission, fuel-efficient parking, two electric vehicle charging stations, and a stormwater containment pond underneath the ramp that leads to the upper levels. The project also included construction of a new connecting road between Clinton Street and South Highland Avenue on the south side of the garage.

The garage was built on a brownfield site that was previously used by the oil industry as a storage area. During the entire construction phase, monitoring wells were utilized to detect the presence of subsurface petroleum, which could potentially migrate due to construction activities. In addition, construction included a deep foundation system with over 1,700 CY of concrete and 24,000 LF of H-piles installed. The garage is located immediately adjacent to a 20-story high-rise, requiring careful vibration monitoring during the H-pile installation.
