University of Nebraska Architecture Hall

About

THIS PROJECT

The University of Nebraska Architecture Hall project included the demolition of a 10,000 SF building to prepare for a new 22,000 SF student/faculty studio space. Additionally, the project involved the renovation of 5,000 SF of faculty office space and a modern lecture hall. Features of the project include:

  • 14 new studio spaces
  • Adjoining classrooms
  • Indoor and outdoor collaboration spaces
  • Student lounge
  • Roof deck terrace
  • Support spaces

This four-story building structure is a hybrid of mass timber and steel with cross-laminated timber (CLT) and glue-laminated (Glulam) components. The new section of the building features mass timber, resembling the original structure built in 1895, which included heavy timber. It’s one of the first architecture schools built with mass timber in the United States, offering students learning opportunities in mass timber design and construction.
