Abessinio Stadium

About

THIS PROJECT

The Abessinio Stadium project included the demolition of a football stadium complex and the construction of a multi-use sports and fitness complex spanning nearly 14 acres. This facility is the home complex for Salesianum School’s sports teams and was designed to accommodate events from other nearby schools and offices for the State of Delaware Parks Department. The stadium features an artificial turf field and a 400-meter track. A focal point of the project is the 22,300 SF grandstand building that accommodates 9,000 people, constructed with natural stone veneer, brick, stucco and cast stone.  The complex features:

  • Eight-lane rubber track
  • Spectator seating
  • Physical therapy suite
  • Concessions facility
  • Press box
  • Spectator suites
  • Locker rooms

The project was awarded the American Sports Builders Association (ASBA) Outstanding Track & Field Facility of the Year.
