Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy

About

THIS PROJECT

This landmark project is the first brand new school in the city of Wilmington, Delaware in 50 years. The school educates students from first to eighth grade. It was a logistically complex project, involving the demolition of an existing building on a constrained city site to make way for a new 163,600 square-foot building. The building was constructed next to the occupied Bancroft School and is located across two city blocks which required an existing street to be closed and all utilities re-routed. The old Bancroft School was converted to a parking lot, basketball courts and grass fields for the students. An interior courtyard is included with a playground, artificial grass and pavers. Features of the school include:

  • Learning commons
  • Art rooms
  • Music rooms
  • Library and media center
  • Science laboratories
  • Cafeteria
  • Auditorium
  • Gymnasium
  • Locker room
