Located at the corner of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and West Baltimore Street, 4MLK is the seventh building at the University of Maryland, Baltimore’s BioPark district. Another aspect of the project included restoring an adjacent, two-story historic firehouse for future use as restaurant tenant space. Known as the Engine 38 Poppleton Firehouse, it opened in 1910 as a response to the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904. The firehouse is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
