Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg Expansion and Renovation
About
THIS PROJECT
The Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg project was the renovation and expansion of a six-story skilled nursing building on a senior living campus. The renovation encompassed over 80 resident rooms, each consisting of a single bedroom with a full bathroom. Each floor houses a serving kitchen and pantry, dining room, day room, recreation area with a balcony and two parlors. The first floor houses a kitchen and offices for the staff. This design, named the household model, is based on the new care model that Westminster Canterbury Lynchburg has adopted. This gives residents more freedom and allows them to make decisions on how to spend their day.
The renovation consisted of two phases of work concurrent with construction of the healthcare building. In addition to the residence rooms, improvements included renovating the café/dining space on the third floor and a fitness/clinic area on the first floor. The project also upgraded the generator to power additional items in the renovation, along with powering an additional building on campus that had no prior generator service in the independent living building.
