Innovation Quarter Phase II Infrastructure

About

THIS PROJECT

Spanning 28 acres in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, this development created roadway and community spaces to make connection points for the Innovation Quarter, an urban hub for research, development and collaboration. This project marked the first phase of a comprehensive master plan aimed at expanding roads and infrastructure across the district to accommodate future development of office, research, retail, and residential spaces. The development extended Long Branch Trail, an urban greenway that runs the length of the Innovation Quarter, by over one mile to increase safety and social mobility in the area. Sitework included paving, extending the primary power, installing new stormwater, domestic water and sanitary utilities and landscaping. To establish a pedestrian-friendly environment, the new development features:

  • Sidewalks
  • Crosswalks
  • Walking trails
  • Benches
  • Bikeshare docks and repair stations
  • Traffic signals
  • Streetlights
  • Newly planted trees
  • Emergency call boxes
