West Palm Beach City Commons and Waterfront Docks

About

THIS PROJECT

This project involved the development of a community waterfront area as part of the City of West Palm Beach’s Downtown Revitalization. The scope of work included marina utilities, steel pilings, land connection structures, decorative lighting and aluminum walkways.

Three floating dock structures, totaling 26,000 SF, were built with custom benches, planters, umbrellas and specialized lighting. Each dock also has cleats that allow public visitors to tie-up their boats.

Measuring approximately three times wider than the other two docks, the feature dock has a series of planters running down the center. This dock is designed to support natural systems and provide an educational experience showcasing nature’s water-cleansing abilities. At the end of the dock is a built-in oyster bed. Oyster shells discarded from restaurants have seeded the bottom, prompting oyster colonization.

This project was awarded the Beacon of Light Award from the Marine Industry of Palm Beach County.
