China Tang Las Vegas
About
THIS PROJECT
The China Tang Las Vegas project was a remodel of an existing restaurant inside the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino. The cuisine is Cantonese, inspired by Sichuan, Shanghai and Beijing regional favorites. The restaurant features a huge bar and lounge, an elegant dining room and an atmosphere that celebrates China’s Tang Dynasty’s culture. The dining facility is also the first of Lai Sun Group’s restaurants built in the Western Hemisphere.
The restaurant is located within the busy MGM Grand District and major coordination meetings were required to minimize disruptions. The remodel was completed in two phases, the kitchen renovation and front-of-house restaurant renovation. The first phase included replacement of all equipment in the kitchen with a new layout to accommodate the incoming tenant. The second phase consisted of interior soft demolition of the front-of-house restaurant in its entirety, including demolition of all MEP systems, which were redesigned to match new restaurant design. This phase also included a bar build-out and private dining rooms with intricate, operable partitions featuring finished millwork and stained glass. Most millwork finishes were premanufactured and assembled off site.
This project was voted one of CNN Travel’s 14 hot new global restaurants for 2018.
