Sawgrass Mills Mall Garage

About

THIS PROJECT

The Sawgrass Mills Mall Garage is a seven-bay, five-level, open-air parking structure with 1,715 spaces and two separate ramps. The garage was constructed adjacent to the mall and was incorporated into the pedestrian flow to provide easy access to and from the shopping center and restaurants. This project was a design-build project with many requirements from mall operations, the local municipality, the developer and mall customers. The garage includes:

  • Parking space availability system
  • Electric car-charging stations
  • Glass-back elevators
  • Roof-level lobbies
  • Police substation
  • Solar-powered pedestrian crosswalk
  • Valet drop-off/waiting lounge
  • LED backlit display systems for advertising

This project required major reconfiguration of the existing shopping center parking lot and traffic flow. It included two new entrances, as well as a new traffic signal and pedestrian crosswalk. The main garage was a precast structure with structural steel towers. The exterior finish was a colored precast concrete, and the interior included a detailed graphics package to help parkers/pedestrians navigate the area.
