Freedom Water Treatment Facility

About

THIS PROJECT

The project was a four-MGD addition to a water treatment plant designed to increase capacity to 16 MGD with portions of process equipment sized for the future capacity. This facility includes:

  • Raw water pumping system
  • Chemical pretreatment
  • Flash mixing and flocculation
  • Dissolved air flotation clarification systems
  • Reverse osmosis filtration system
  • 500,000-gallon clear well
  • Finished water pumping system

In addition, upgrades to the facility included modifications to the existing clear well, emergency power generation, staff administration facilities and expanded waste handling to accommodate increased waste streams from the plant expansion. The project also included the SCADA integration between the new and existing facilities. Off-site work included a new 13,000-foot, 24-inch transmission main.
